Sexual Assault Response

Oxford College is home to an intentional community of support, respect, and empowerment. Every person within our community plays a pivotal role in keeping one another safe. Oxford has created a system of support for keeping students informed about sexual violence prevention and intervention, as well as offering empowerment for those students dealing with sexual violence.

Oxford Sexual Assault Support & Prevention

If a client is impacted by sexual assault or relationship harm, support is available from a number of caring resources and supportive people.  While employees of Oxford (including student employees) are required to report some information, in compliance with Title IX requirements, your privacy will be maintained and you retain decision-making on whether to file a formal report that identifies you by name.  There are resources that are confidential and exempt from reporting, such as Student Health Services providers, any Chaplains from the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, and clinicians in our office, here at the Center for Counseling and Wellbeing.

If a student is directly (or indirectly) impacted by sexual violence, that student can speak to any of the counselors at the Center for Counseling and Wellbeing for confidential support.  Even if you are not interested in ongoing counseling, they also serve as advocates that can ensure you are aware of the support, guidance, and resources available to you.   Simply call 770-784-8394 and let the receptionist know you would like to make an Assault Response Advocate appointment.

24/7 Crisis Hotline Assistance

We also partner with a community organization, The Day League, to provide 24/7 crisis hotline assistance (and forensic/SANE exams) to students in need of support, transportation to hospital, post-exposure prophylaxis, assistance in filing police reports, individual and group counseling, and more.
